The Road to 4th Street goes thur Shelbyville
Did you ever lay in bed in the morning, hearing the rain hit the roof and know you could just roll over and go back to sleep or....get out to the start line and get your race in. Today was such a day as race #3 of the Max Performance Triathlon Series (400 yd swim, 12 mile bike, 5k run) was held in Shelbyville, KY this morning. As in the past two, the order was revised to run first, bike and then swim last because of the temperture. I don't mind running in the cold or the rain or both and have done a lot of training runs doing just that. People ask me why would you want to run in the rain and I tell them that you never know what event day is going to be like and you need to be prepared for everything....but biking in the rain and cold is another story...there is just nothing except maybe waterskiing in the rain that prepares you for that experience but that doesn't take into account the temperature. At 39 degrees and a light rain with a 10 mph breeze from the west...just put your head down and pump, pump, pump push through and think warm thoughts. There is one redeeming factor is when you do the swim last and the water is a nice 84 degrees but it takes a lap or 2 to thaw out. When all said and done, your glad you went and didn't lay in bed....anyone can do that but it takes a special breed of cat to roll out on a rainy morning and get to the start line. Special thanks to Todd and all of this crew for putting on this series. On to the 4th race in 3 weeks.

Nice 24 Mile Bike Ride
It was such a wonder evening that I decided to ride tonight...first time in a while that the weather has cooperated since it has rained so much the past couple of months. Left my house behind Iroquois Park and rode out Palakta, Manslick, Old Third St to Greyling to Penile then to Blevins Gap Rd out to Dixie Highway. It was a good mix of hills and easy riding and a nice 24 mile trip or about 1 hour and 25 minutes. Just a wonder evening. If any one would like to ride sometime, please let me know...if aways more fun with more riders.
